Construction Management Technology
The Associate Degree in Construction Management Technology is Central Piedmont's response to the demand for skilled managers in the construction industry.
What You Will Learn
The two-year program is designed to prepare you for careers in residential and commercial construction management. These careers include project management, superintendence, estimating, and skilled foremen. Coursework will include safety, planning and scheduling, cost control, productivity, human relations, estimating, building codes, and construction technical skills. Courses also include Spanish for the workplace along with cooperative education and internship work experience. The associate degree is designed to provide the novice as well as the skilled trades person the opportunity to move into management from the following areas of specialization:
- HVAC
- welding
- plumbing
- electrical
- carpentry
- masonry
Upon completion of the program, you will be able to:
- navigate the demands of a construction environment, using assessment, reasoning, and logic based decision skills in making a positive contribution to the construction process
- effectively plan, schedule, and manage a residential or light commercial project
- develop a reasonable estimate of manpower, materials, and task durations to mobilize the construction process
Graduates will find employment in both commercial and residential construction and should qualify for entry-level positions in construction management as project managers, superintendents, estimators, or foremen.
