Student Recreation and Campus Fitness Centers
To participate in certain student recreation activities, you must be a currently enrolled student at Central Piedmont, must show proper ID upon entry, sign appropriate waivers, and agree to abide by the Student Code of Conduct.
Campus Fitness Centers
The Central Piedmont fitness centers are free and open to all faculty, staff, and currently-enrolled Central Piedmont students. At our fitness centers, you'll find fitness and weight machines, locker rooms to store your stuff, showers, and friendly facilitators on-site to help you with equipment. All hours are subject to change. For more information, including to confirm times the fitness centers are closed for classes, call or stop by any fitness center. Everyone has to sign an agreement and waiver to use a fitness center.

Levine Campus Fitness Center
The Levine Campus Fitness Center will be closed to students for the summer semester and will reopen in August 2025.

Additional Fitness Center Information for Employees
You may use fitness centers outside of staffed hours on days when the college is open. To access a center during these times:
- use your employee ID (if the card reader is activated)
- call security at 704-330-6632
You cannot use a fitness centers during a time when it is reserved for a student class. (For example, the Central Campus center is currently closed for a class Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30–10:45 a.m.)

To help maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment for everyone, it is important to abide by the following rules and practices. Central Piedmont reserves the right to implement any additional guidelines that protect the health and safety of the fitness centers and their users.

General Policies, Waiver
To use the Central Piedmont fitness centers, you are required to:
- sign a fitness center agreement and waiver to show that you have read and understand the fitness center rules
- follow all fitness center guidelines outlined in the fitness center agreement and waiver and in college policies and procedures, particularly 4.01 Drug-free college and workplace policy
Please report any equipment issues or damage to fitness center staff.

Dress Code
There is signage in the fitness centers with examples of what is and isn't allowed. If you are in violation of the dress code, fitness center staff may ask you to change or to leave.
Shirts must:
- have an armpit gap that is less than the palm of your hand
- cover your full torso
- not expose skin below the bra line in the back
Shorts/pants must not:
- have belts, studs, rivets, or zippers
- expose the buttocks
You must wear shoes at all times. Shoes must:
- be closed-toe
- cover your entire foot
You cannot wear sleeveless shirts identified in the dress code signage at the centers, casual shorts, cargo pants, sandals, hats or bandanas, denim, or clothing with metal or rivets.

Locker Rooms
- You cannot bring in glass containers of any kind.
- The locker room floors may be wet — walk carefully.
- To respect everyone's privacy, you are prohibited from using audio or visual recording devices — including a cell phone camera — in fitness centers or in locker rooms. Please refrain from using your cell phone in the locker rooms.

Lockers
- All lockers are property of Central Piedmont Community College.
- Central Piedmont is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal items.
- You must store all your personal items completely in a locker.
- You can use any open locker for during the day only (not overnight). You must remove your items by the end of the day.
- For safety and security, we recommend you use a lock. You can use your own lock, or you can check out a lock rom the fitness center. To check out a lock, you give a $5 deposit, which you get back when you return the lock.
- Any locks remaining on lockers at the end of the day may be cut, and the items in the locker removed. Central Piedmont will not be responsible for items retrieved from lockers where locks have been removed.
- Report theft immediately to Security Services at 704-330-6632.

Weights/Equipment
- Do not drop weights or let them touch while performing an exercise.
- You are not allowed to do the following exercises in the free weight area:
- Olympic lifts-snatch, clean, and jerk
- squats, deadlifts and power cleans
- step-ups with weights (stepping onto benches)
- any exercise using free weights where you are standing with the weight at shoulder height or higher and could potentially lose your balance (e.g., lunges are permissible when using dumbbells)
- No sparring, practicing self-defense moves, or inappropriate behavior/language.
- Do not try to train others without their permission or request.
- Use a spotter with barbells when working to muscle failure (especially for bench press). Always use collars.
- Replace weights and attachments on the weight tree or rack when you're done.
Student Clubs and Activities
