More Than a Job NC
Are you unemployed or underemployed? Do you want a better job, career, and life? Do you need additional training, certifications, or degrees? More Than a Job NC is the program for you.
What You Will Learn
More Than a Job NC is a grant-funded partnership between Central Piedmont, the Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services, and the North Carolina Division of Health and Human Services that connects low-income residents with the education and training opportunities they need to secure a better-paying job or family-sustaining career. If you are enrolled in Mecklenburg County's Food & Nutrition Services Employment and Training program, More Than a Job NC can help you increase your skills, earn new credentials, boost your career possibilities, and contribute to your family's financial well-being.
Through More Than a Job NC, you can receive:
- scholarships to college
- training and certifications for in-demand jobs
- advising and career coaching
- Education Navigator assistance to help you plan your career path
- support services and transportation assistance
Who Can Enroll
To be eligible for More Than a Job NC, you must be:
- receiving or eligible to receive Food and Nutrition Services (EBT) in Mecklenburg County (SNAP, EBT, Food Stamps assistance, etc.)
- at least 16 years old
- able to work
- not receiving Work First or Refugee Employment Services
